The reading of the superior part from left to right, as usual, elicits some perplexity because it gives Abbasso/ferma, ie. Down/stop. Is it ++ (as greatly probable) or + - with a hidden opposition? Is it an identity by semantic similarity (down and stops, both overthrow the negativing of the death sentence)? Or "down" probably could turn down "to stop" as negative (down to stop, hidden opposition)?
